Do Better

I find that there is always a time and a place for a Maya Angelou quote.

(Real talk: I included a Maya Angelou quote in my wedding vows!)

I am struck by this one:

“Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”

As a business owner, I seek opportunities for professional development.

As a spiritual person, I embark on continual personal growth.

As a wife/daughter/sister/aunt/friend, I strive to be better for the people I love.

This line of thinking comes naturally to many of us, so why are we stuck using the same outdated philanthropic processes?

We know that grants do not foster authentic relationships between funders and organizations.

We know that grants are not the best way to distribute funds.

We know that many organizations are excluded from this process entirely.

I believe that AI presents a new way forward.

We can use AI to distribute resources more equitably and more broadly.

We can use AI as a tool to connect funders to organizations.

We can use AI to completely eliminate the grant proposal altogether.

Call me radical, but I am reimagining the entire philanthropic process so that we can live up to Maya Angelou’s ideals… doing better because we know better.
