Anthropic is at War with Itself

In a recent article in The Atlantic titled, "Anthropic Is at War With Itself", subheadline: "The AI company shouting about AI’s dangers can’t quite bring itself to slow down", is a reflection of how many of us are feeling about AI.

Myself included.

We are wired for binary thinking.
But AI forces us into a different kind of thinking entirely, one where two seemingly contradictory things are true at the same time.

The perils of AI are becoming more and more obvious.

Biometric surveillance.
Entry-level white-collar job loss.
Massive layoffs at Big Tech companies while they pour billions into AI development.
And reports of AI systems adapting their behavior in testing environments because they're aware of being tested. (Super intelligence, anyone?!)

And yet, and yet.

More and more of us are using AI all the time, whether it's because we are resigned to this new future or are excited about it.

Regardless, here we are.

Both sides of the same coin point to a new future that none of us are prepared for.

It's not about being ready... it's about whether we can learn to navigate the uncertainty itself.
