AI Ethics Panel in St. Paul

I spoke on a panel this week at ConnectUP! Institute's AI Mini Summit about ethical AI. It gave me a chance to think about what this means on a day-to-day basis in the small choices we make.I broke it down into these main aspects:

➡️ Transparency: consider when to disclose AI use and to whom

➡️ Confidentiality: when you're using AI tools, honor the confidentiality agreement you already have with the folks you're working with

➡️ Verification: the good old "human in the loop" concept, anything you put out into the world is on you, so always verify AI output

➡️ Judgment: AI can't replace human judgment, so always apply a critical thinking lens

➡️ Representation: consider who is represented in AI training data and whose perspectives might be missing or "digitally invisible".

And it wouldn't be a trip to St. Paul without some quality time with Y. Elaine Rasmussen!
